Task 3: Creating a digital activity for the 21st century classroom

Choose one tech tool we have used during this module (or another one you already use) and design an activity for your learners based on the principles of 21st century teaching and learning and technology integration.


Describe the group (level and age), the aims, the steps and the resources you will be using.
These questions may help you:
What? (What is the technology?)
Who? (Who are the learners?)
Where? (Where are they going to perform the activity? At home, in class, in te lab?)
When? (When are they going to do that? During the class, after the class, before the class?)
Why? (What is the aim of the activity? How will it enhance students' language learning? How will it prepare students for the 21st century and the digital age?)
How? (How will it be done? Describe the steps for the activity)


Then, share it here with the group.

New Technologies I - Assessment




Hello @ll,

As we have discussed yesterday, the inter-assessement tasks to be accomplished by next Friday (July 25th) are:

1) Explore the blog. Visit the pages and links, read the posts and share your opinions and suggestions.

2) Read Vera Menezes's paper on the evolution of technologies in ELT. The text is on the platform (Material do Estudante) and also in the E-library page here in the blog.

3) If you have a smartphone, check that you have a QR code reader app. If you don't, please install it and bring it to class next Saturday.

Potentials and challenges of technologies/digital age




In groups, discuss the potentials and challenges of using technologies in education and in the digital age and make a list. Then, go to Glogster and create a poster with your ideas and share them with the group.

New technologies, new pedagogies




After you watch the video below, discuss the following questions in groups:

1) What was the problem with the use of new technologies in the school?
2) Why do you think that happened?
3) What could be done to overcome this problem?
4) What would be a good pedagogy/methodology to use the new technology in that school?

After your discussion, imagine you are a teacher in that school. How can you help the teacher to use new technologies in a more appropriate way for the digital age?

Prepare a small presentation using Google Drive Presentation to use in the school, presenting innovative ways of using new technologies. Then, share it here.

Task 2 - Pre-Assignment Task

Reflect on your use of technology today and write a one-page essay describing your experience with New Technologies in ELT. Please, use the questions below to guide your text in a narrative style. You may include other information you consider relevant for our course. Share your essay here as a comment to this post and save it as a word document for a future task.
